Well, I should probably start by saying I’m a disciple; since that’s what this blog is about. But I’ve been reluctant to say that for a while, which is also what this blog is about. A disciple of Jesus Christ, who is God, God’s only begotten Son. Who chose me when I was absolutely lost. And, for reasons I cannot fathom, is still interested in me.
So, I’m 63 now. Born in Colorado, lived 36 years in California after college, now in the little town of Roseburg, Oregon, the timber capital of the U.S. (or used to be), for the last 3+ years. Been married. Two “kids”, who both seem to be wildly successful, but completely separated from Dad. Divorced (nasty!) Married again to a wonderful woman for the best 20 years of my life until cancer got her in September 2018. Now trying to make sense of life “serving the Lord without distraction” (I Cor. 7:35). Until (?) I married the third time to another even more wonderful woman since September 2019. But, still trying to make sense of life.
I am a musician, somewhat reluctantly also (more blog posts). But I only say that because I don’t (or at least didn’t) like to practice very much. And of course real musicians like to practice (don’t they?). And I’m up to 30 or 31 instruments now… REALLY need to practice.
I also dabble in things like photography, video production, recording, crafts, sewing, quilting, making wooden toys and things as “Grandpa’s Wooden Treasures” (working name, nothing official yet), camping (no fishing, though). Oh, and I like to read and write but terrible at drawing.
And a software architect in my day job, well, until I was laid of from that… Which paid the bills… So, I wonder if I’m getting too old for this stuff. But someday, maybe, I’ll be a real software guy and have my own GitHub project … Well, actually now I do (see links below). Sigh. I still like this stuff. I like a LOT of things (maybe too many?), and I like to write. Working on a book, working on this blog. Working on the writing the book of my life, although I think the Author of it got here first.
